Heath joins GMC while earning his doctorate in Social Work at Tulane University and following service as clinical director at Gateway, a non-profit, behavioral health Clubhouse model program for adults with serious mental illnesses. At Gateway, Heath also consulted regionally and internationally on program evaluation and evidence-based practices for adults with schizophrenia spectrum and affective disorders. Heath has experience as a therapist working with adolescents and children in special education, confinement, and wilderness therapy. Heath began working in the mental health field as a non-commissioned officer in the Marine Corps providing suicide prevention services. Heath enlisted in the Marines as an Arabic, cryptologic linguist and became an Arabic language instructor at the National Security Agency and Mission Manager for the Central Security Service. Heath is licensed to practice therapy and earned his Master’s in Social Work at the University of Southern California. Heath graduated from the Defense Language Institute with fluency in Modern Standard, Levantine, and Iraqi Arabic. He also graduated from Winthrop University with Honors earning a Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy. If not working or studying, you can find Heath with his family, hiking, kayaking, or practicing for parkour and ninja competitions.
