Greer Middle College Announces Principal

Greer Middle College is pleased to announce its principal for the 2008-09 school year. Jean B. Williams comes to us with twenty-nine years of experience as an administrator, counselor, and teacher at the elementary and secondary levels.

Honored as the 2007 Santa Ana Unified School District Administrator of the Year, Ms. Williams is currently principal of Middle College High School @ Santa Ana College in Orange County, California, where she has served for the last eight years. Under her leadership, MCHS earned the Title I Academic Achievement Award for 2006-08 as measured by the school’s remarkable API growth for two consecutive years. In addition, U.S. News and World Report recognized MCHS with the Best School of 2008 Silver Medal Award for being one of the nation’s top high schools. Only 405 schools across the country received such an honor. Moreover, serving as an executive member of the Middle College National Consortium Board, she participated in key leadership conferences to help shape its vision, goals, and policies.

Ms. Williams is a native South Carolinian and a proud mother of two beautiful daughters. Her oldest daughter graduated from MCHS in 2003 and went on to earn a degree in Communications from Howard University. Her youngest daughter is currently attending MCHS and will graduate in June. An active member of Christ Our Redeemer AME Church, she enjoys working with the youth and is looking forward to returning to South Carolina to reconnect with her family and her roots. She proudly embraces the opportunities and challenges of opening a new public charter high school on a college campus. Her mission is to provide all students with equal access to higher education so they can realize their full potential.

Ms. Williams received her B.A. and Masters Degrees from the University of South Carolina and her Administrative Credential from California State University.
